Privacy Policy
In short
- SkillForge has no account, no ads and no analytics.
- Everything you enter is stored on your phone. The app sends nothing to the developer or to anyone else.
- Data only leaves the app when you share it (for example a backup file), through Android's own device backup if it is turned on, or to Health Connect on your phone if you turn that on.
Who is responsible
SkillForge is developed by Anriar, based in Austria. Contact: skillforge.application@gmail.com.
What the app stores on your phone
To work, SkillForge keeps the following in its private app storage on your device:
- Your hero profile: the hero name you choose and the look of your companion.
- Your goals, equipment profiles (for example "Home" and "Park") and app settings.
- Your training history: which exercises you logged, sets, reps or hold times, set durations from the timer, and when you trained. The app derives your levels, XP, attributes, rank, streak and unlocks from this history.
- Changes you make to the skill tree (your own exercises and edits) and the exercises you unlocked yourself.
- A session in progress, so it survives closing the app.
- A small summary for the home-screen widgets (level, rank, streak, top attributes, class and companion look), safety copies made before you import a backup, and temporary copies of files you export or import.
This data is not health or medical data in a clinical sense and is never analysed, sold or used for advertising. The developer has no access to it.
When data leaves your phone
- Backups and shared progressions you export. When you tap "Export backup" or share your progressions, the app creates a file and hands it to Android's share sheet. Where it goes (a messaging app, cloud storage, email) is your choice and subject to that service's terms.
- Android device backup. If backup is turned on in your Android settings, Android may include the app's data in your Google account backup and restore it when you set up a phone. This is a feature of Android run by Google, not by SkillForge; you can turn it off in your phone's settings.
- Health Connect (optional, off unless you turn it on): see below.
- Links. Links in the app (for example to exercise sources) open in your browser; the app itself does not load anything from the internet.
SkillForge contains no third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.
Health Connect
Health Connect is Android's own store for health and fitness data on your phone. In Settings → Health Connect you can let SkillForge add your workouts to it. It is off unless you turn it on, and Android asks you first.
- What is written: for every workout you finish, one exercise session (type calisthenics) with its start and end time, the title "SkillForge workout" and a note listing the exercises with their sets and the XP earned.
- What is read: nothing. SkillForge only asks for permission to write exercise and never reads data from Health Connect.
- Where it goes: the workouts stay in Health Connect on your phone. Apps you allow to read exercise in Health Connect can see them; the developer never receives them. They are not used for advertising, sold or used for any other purpose.
- Your control: turn it off in Settings → Health Connect to stop writing. To revoke the permission or delete workouts SkillForge added, use Health Connect itself (Settings → Health Connect → Open Health Connect).
Permissions
- Vibration: the hold timer and rest countdown buzz.
- Health Connect: write exercise: only asked for when you turn on Health Connect, to add your finished workouts (see above).
- Background work, network state, start at boot, wake lock: requested by Android's WorkManager library, which keeps the home-screen widgets up to date. The app does not use them to send data.
- Internet: included by the app framework; SkillForge makes no network requests of its own.
Importing a backup uses Android's file picker; the app has no access to your other files.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings → Delete all my data removes everything listed above from your phone.
- Uninstalling the app, or "Clear storage" in Android's app settings, also removes it from the phone.
- Copies you exported, and Android device backups, are managed where you stored them (for example in your Google account settings). Workouts added to Health Connect stay there until you delete them in Health Connect.
Because the developer holds none of your data, there is nothing to request from us. Under the GDPR you may still contact us with any question, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Austria: the Datenschutzbehörde).
Children
SkillForge is meant for adults and teenagers training on their own and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If an update changes what the app stores or shares, this page is updated first and the date above changes. The full history is public in the app's source repository.
